President's Message, January, 2022

Start Where You Are…..
What does the beginning of a New Year mean to you? Is it just another day?

Or, like me, are you very excited to make your New Year’s plan and go after a better version of yourself?

To me, a new year means a chance to reflect on the year that has gone by and to think about what I hope to achieve in the coming year. Where would I like to be by 12/31/2022, and what will I need to do to get there?

The new year comes with great excitement as I continue on the life path I have set for myself to contribute to the greater good via my successes in the non-profit world.

There is also a sense a relief for surviving another year healthy – covid free, with a roof over my head, with my loved ones safe and sound, and with food in the fridge.

I am very grateful this time of year to take stock and be reminded of all the wonderful things in my life, and I am happy I have survived all the life changes, some of which – have been devastating. I also take stock in my failures and focus on the lessons learned from my mistakes.

But, I still ask myself, How do you get to where you want to go?

When I opened my planner for January 2022 – the message was, “Start where you are.” While I found the phrase inspiring and motivating - I still was not sure where to go from there, and then I found the below excerpt in an article on - which I am now calling my road map:

To start, we need real courage to make the necessary changes. It takes a strong will and countenance to decide to love yourself enough that you are going to take some chances to invest in yourself, your purpose and your future.

You can look forward and celebrate your New Year by making lists of:

  •  Gratitude: everything you are grateful for and in the last year.
  •  What are you excited about for the New Year?
  •  What would you like to create for yourself next year?
  •  What would you like to create in your business or in you work?
  •  What are you willing to invest in your wellbeing?
  •  How will you take care of your body, mind and spirit?
  •  What would you like to leave behind in the past?
  •  What brings you 'Joy' and start incorporating those things in your life regularly without hesitation or question.

Start where you are. Make as many lists as you need to, but - try to stick to what you really desire to accomplish.

It is always good to ask yourself while you are creating these lists: "Are you willing to do what it takes to make your desires manifest?"

Also, one other suggestion, let us call this list “Manifestations,” along with “What I am willing to let go.”

The good news is when you create a list of what you really desire from your heart, not from your head, and work toward those things, you cannot fail because the Universe starts to conspire with you to create those things for you and your life. It also brings people into your life to help get you there.

So – Ladies! I invite you to join me, and “start where you are.”

Create your list – with courage and intention, ask and create action, then let’s watch our lives shift to a better version of ourselves.

And now, in closing, as I wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Safe New Year filled with new possibilities. I leave you with the quote below:

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.  — Neil Gaiman
